The NEC Users’ Group Conference on 21−23 June 2021 will again take place online due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Like last year, the conference will feature separate morning and afternoon sessions of around 90 minutes, with tickets being available for each session or the whole event. In the first session on 21 June, key speakers from government and industry will consider how effective use of NEC can encourage better, greener projects to support the UK’s commitment to net zero greenhouse gas emissions and reduce emissions from built-environment projects worldwide. This session will be opened by Rachel Skinner, president of the Institution of Civil Engineers.The following morning session of 22 June will examine examples of how NEC is being applied in a variety of sectors. It will explore practical uses of NEC on real projects for procuring works, services and supplies.
NEC Awards ceremony
The third morning session on 23 June will begin with the NEC Awards ceremony. The awards recognise excellence in project delivery and collaboration on NEC projects across the world. The morning session will go on to feature case studies from NEC projects around the globe, including an update on use of NEC in Hong Kong from Lam Sai-hung, permanent secretary of the Hong Kong Development Bureau and chair of the NEC Asia Pacific Users’ Group.All three afternoon sessions will consist of practical workshops focusing on key topics, including dispute resolution and how to achieve an effective NEC programme. The workshops will feature presentations, group exercises and interactive discussions around key topics of interest. Throughout the conference there will be opportunities for interactive question and answer discussions with leading NEC experts as well as leaders from government and industry.
